Giustino DE SANTIS è nato a Cansano (AQ) nel 1942.
Autodidatta autentico, dopo una iniziale esperienza d'impronta figurativa, risalente agli anni sessanta-settanta, influenzata prevalentemente dallo studio dei grandi maestri del passato e delle avanguardie storiche, approda, attraverso una lenta riflessione ed una rigorosa indagine sul nesso tra intuizione teorica e realtà in tutta la sua immanenza, ad una poetica di tipo "modulare".
Per lui, infatti, la piena consapevolezza che accompagna lo spirito contemporaneo su ogni aspetto della straordinaria e variegata costellazione degli "oggetti di natura", suggerisce di non operare discriminanti nella determinazione della rappresentazione artistica, ma ricondurre ogni tassello della varietà del REALE a pochi e costanti elementi base, scevri da contaminazioni soggettive e con carattere e distinzione di universalità: FINITEZZA - DUALITA' - COMUNICATIVITA'.
Egli ritiene, peraltro, che l'arte nei diversi linguaggi in cui si esplica, sempre più risulta essere un insieme di infiniti incontri e scontri a livello di percezione verticale della realtà; l'azione, laddove viene resa oggettiva, è solo una fra le tanti possibili, ma è pur sempre una verità, poiché non v'è possibilità di dilatarla nel medesimo spazio-tempo in cui si è costituita. Saranno possibili varianti ma solo in spazi e tempi successivi, atteso che ogni atteggiamento dialettico con le cose sviluppa infinite possibilità di pensiero teorico ed innumerevoli fatti ed eventi spaziali e temporali.
Nel 1980 presenta il frutto delle sue ricerche in una mostra personale presso lo spazio espositivo "La Bitta" in Roma, dove già si profila un deciso orientamento linguistico caratterizzato dal rifiuto di ogni figurazione aneddotica ma con significazione dell'opera in senso metaforico che permette all'Autore l'impaginazione di situazioni estetiche, come possibile dilatazione poetica del REALE, o riferire sulle infinite possibilità di oggettivazione del pensiero puro. In divenire, operare nello specifico dell'opera stessa, l'unificazione dei tre moduli espressivi: grafico, pittorico e plastico.
Da questo momento prosegue la sua attività espositiva con mostre personali e la partecipazione a rassegne d'arte nazionali ed internazionali.
Nel 1992 pubblica il volume di poesie “Gli umori del lucignolo”, nel 1994 il saggio “La visione modulare”, nel 2006 la raccolta “Poesie piramidali” e nel 2012 la nuova silloge “Amminoacidi”.
Nel 2011 è stata presentata ad Arte Fiera – Art First di Bologna dal Prof. Francesco BONI la monografia Giustino DE SANTIS a cura di Duccio TROMBADORI – MARETTI Editore.

Giustino De Santis was born in Cansano (L'Aquila) in 1942.
After an early experience in figurative painting, dating back to the sixties and seventies, under the influence of the study of the great masters of the past and of historical avant-garde movements, through a slow reflection and a rigorous investigation about the link between theoretical insight and immanent reality, Giustino De Santis, a genuine self-taught man, landed at a modular kind of poetics.
According to him, the full awareness, that goes along with contemporary spirit, of every aspect of the extraordinary and variegated constellation of "objects of nature", suggests not to discriminate in the determination of artistic representation, but to reduce instead every dowel of the variety of the REAL to a few and constant basic elements, which are free from any subjective contamination and endowed with the character of universality: FINITUDE, DUALITY, COMMUNICATIVENESS.
De Santis believes, however, that art, in all different languages in which it expresses itself, more and more appears to be a set of numberless meetings and collisions in a vertical perception of reality. Action, when made objective, is only one of many other possible actions, nevertheless it is a truth, because there's no chance to expand, to enlarge it in the same space-time in which it shapes itself. Variants are possible, but only in further spaces and times, since every dialectic attitude towards things develops countless possibilities of theoretical thinking and numberless events in space and time.
In 1980 De Santis showed the result of his research in a solo exhibition at the art centre "La Bitta", in Rome. His strong expressive orientation was already perceptible, marked as it was by the denial of any anecdotal figuration, but with a meaning of the work of art in a metaphorical sense that allowed the Author's layout of esthetical situations as a possible poetic enlargement of the REAL or as a reference to endless possibilities of objectivity of pure thought. That is, realising in the peculiarity of the work of art itself the unification of three expressive modules: graphic, pictorial and plastic.
Since then on, De Santis went on with his solo exhibitions and many national and international group shows.
In 1992 he published a book of poems " Gli umori del lucignolo ," and in 1994 an essay, " La visione modulare" , in 2006 the collection "Poesie piramidali" and in 2012 the new compilation, “Amminoacidi"
In 2011 his monograph, entitled: Giustino DE SANTIS by Duccio Trombadori - MARETTI Publisher, was presented at ArteFiera - Art First Bologna by Prof. Francesco BONI.
